When faced with a cull.....

Lets say you have been a contractor for a while at a client and have generally been a satisfactory performer. There is a cost cutting drive and lots of contractors are culled. You survive as you are good and because what you are doing now cant be stopped without very high level decisions.

Do you
1. Realise that you might go in the next cull and prepare to jump rather than be pushed?

OR

2. Feel that, post cull, your contract will be more secure rather than less.

Basically I would stay. The likelyhood is you will be last one out, so why take the risk in a bad market?

This is very true. However, I hope that I can get a new contract in the next 2 weeks.... otherwise I face the nightmare of not having a firm income after December.

Some contractors who are like me, new to the game, are probably asking themselves if they came into the market at the right time, especially as work is starting to thin up. I am now faced with the possibility that I may have to go permie in order to survive.
