    A change in direction

I am a 2nd line support engineer & have been for approx 10 years. I am now considering moving onto different roles within IT. I am interested in contract roles of systems analyst. Can any existing systems analyst's out there offer any advice on how I could make the transition.

    Cheers

Just apply for contract roles and hope for the best. As long as you are methodical and analytical, you should be ok. However, it may help your cause if you found a permie job within this field first before going contracting.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

I would say only apply for roles which ask for the technical experiance, or do what others have suggested on other threads, try for a permi role to get the experience. With 10 yrs Business Systems anaysis I am struggling at the moment to get a role so breaking in to this while a contractor may be a little hard a the moment.

When I moved from support to analyst I did it whilst I was a permi.

Take a course and read some books, but like most poject work there are many methodologies used today, so look around at what skills are required at the moment and start with that.
