    CV with a photograph

Had this strange request from an agent today...

CV was sent to client(a consultancy) 3 days back, the agent comes back and says its the consultancy's business process that they need a photograph of every candidate. He says i am in their potential short list but would be confirmed for an interview only if he receives my photograph!!

Has anyone had similar requests in contracting in their past....?

Could it be genuine...i am not very comfortable with identity fraud happening all around these days....

Personally I would refuse under various discrimination (Sex Discrimination, Age Discrimination, Disability Discrimination, etc). If they insist on having it, then you should withdraw on principle.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

Tell them only if they give you a photo of the hiring manager first!

Hmm...thats sounds interesting...but does the panel think it could be a convincing reason for not giving in to the consultancy/agency's demands...

I know of at least one Big Consultancy that likes to have a photo on the cv that they pass on to end clients. I have a photogrpaher friend who specialises in these corporate headshots if you are interested.

              "See?"

How tough can it be? It's not like it's a modeling contract?

I have had this for a permie job before - along with the please bring you passport etc.

A few years ago it was the 'In thing' to attach you photo to CV but I thought that had died a death.

In France it's obligatory. Photo shops have special offers, 40 ID photos for your CVs! I have turned up at an agent's with a CV with no photo, and they whipped out a Polaroid and took one. If you apply without one, your CV is liable to get binned.

OTOH I have heard that in the US an accompanying photo is a no-no, for the reasons mentioned above: making a choice based on anything that you can tell from a photo would be illegal.
