Took nearly a week to get him through vetting, and the project is half finished - he's walked away with a USB key with the project files (I do have copies, but he will be returning that key if I have anything to do with it). Even if I find someone else in the next 24 hrs they'll never get through the vetting in time.
I've been a contractor for nearly a decade and never seen anyone behave like that.
