Alternatives to Escrow

customer wants to put the source code of the software I license to them in escrow.

I don't want to do that. (as they have a tonne of smart lawyers who will find a reason to bust it open and gain access)

Is there an alternative?

Source code escrow is perfectly normal and acceptable.
