    Contract Duration

After you have accepted a contract at 6 months but not started yet, is it legal and 'above board' that they can now state that there has been a change and its now 3 months?

A contract is only as long as the notice period, if it has one. I wouldn't sweat it...
    Older and ...well, just older!!

my last gig the agent signs me up for 6 months. few weeks in, find out from client that their contract with agency is only for 3 months.

      and so it goes...

(end date of client/agency contract - notice period in days) = agent phones to serve notice.

they never fail to surprise me

not sure whether this is common????

It means you can demand a rate rise when they renew you in three months' time
