Almost hundreds of new ones appearing each day, and the Agents keep saying "The market is dull at the moment". Then, how much % of job adverts could possibly be genuine?

Technically, all advert's should be genuine, it's a real big no no in our industry to put up an advert on JobServe for example which is not real. Plus advertising cost's money. Back in the day I remember agencies were accused of advertising for roles that didn't exist as a means to building up their databases but in this day and age that would be pointless, most agency databases hold around 400,000 candidate's, advertising roles is now more about identifying candidate's that are definitely looking as opposed to candidate's on a database that may or may not be looking. With advertising becoming increasingly more expensive, the need to advertise to bulk a database I suspect is in sharp decline.
However some roles that are advertised genuinely may not have any bearing on reality - in that client rings up, looking for helpdesk support people, 3 month contract initially, must have Remedy experience, agent advertises role, only to be told a week later that client cannot get budget approval so the role (and the advert) are pulled.
Actually had this happen today, client interviewed a number of candidate's, really liked one of our candidate's, candidate keen to accept role if offered, told this afternoon that budget approval had not been met so cannot take on candidate. Genuine role, was advertised etc. came to nothing unfortunately.I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve it through not dying...Comment

An agency mate of mine reckons that at least 60% of adverts across the industries at any one time; are false lead generators.
Add another 10% for in-house company promotions; where the company charter dictates that they advertise and interview outside the organization, before awarding the position.
So that's a good chunk of the advertised positions that are dead enders.Confusion is a natural state of beingComment
