Glad I'm not the only one who did a Hotel & Catering degree and stumbled into IT by accident

15 years for me. if it was my money i'd want a ba with stacks of business experience. straight out of uni is good for enthusiasm but not so great for providing business process answers.

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

I suspect that is more to do with the fact that 21 year old BAs are generally pretty clueless, but that doesn't stop EDS et al, hiring them out at £1.5K+ per day.

I got my O levels, then got a job programming, then went contract 11 years later, been contracting for about 13 years.

Might get round to going to college one day.

I'm not thick, innumerate, illiterate or directionless enough to qualify for polyversity.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

Never went to Uni, did O levels, messed about for a bit, ended up in IT by accident. It was the only thing I could do reasonably well that I didn't have to try too hard at.
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...
