Ah, the eternal argument. While it is true that you should be just happy with your rate, the margin does have its effects. You're on £250, they're charging £350. Your colleague is getting £275, his agency are charging £325. The client expects you to be £25 a day better than your colleague. When there's only enough work for one, they get rid of the expensive one.
On the plus side, the higher the margin, the better the financial stability and cashflow of the agency should be, so perhaps you have lower risk.
