I like posts like this, they point out which of you are professionals and which are downright amateurs.

Pathway have been playing that game with me and a couple of other contractors I know this week, I wonder if the whole group is uping it's game?

      Agressive targets/recession biting?

        First post woo hoo

Applied for a (bogus) contract. They rang me up, and didn't once mention the contract I'd applied for. Asked me what I was after and my current rate. Then they started asking about a previous client and whether Roger Peters was still IT director there (Guess what he never was). I told the p1mp that Roger Ramjet was the new director to which he put the phone down on me.

Cheeky bugger sent me a template email afterwards saying how nice it was to speak to me and asked me to send my references as previously agreed. We didnt get as far as references in our conversation! I sent a picture of a fisherman back.

Not got a reply back. Shame.

Oh by the way the email was from Huxley also, so looks like they do have have some newbie with unrestricted access to their database!
Funny... I have had these guys actually cut and paste my last job description from my CV word for word, and post it on the job boards as one of their job specs

I had put quite a bit of work into it, so I was glad someone appreciated it!

Then sometimes I get concerned, that these guys can be inbetween us and the next potential contract.

          Cheers,

          Tim.

Take care with your language. If 'pimps' are calling what does that make you???

              Dear xxxxx

I hope this e-mail finds you well.

As such I would like to find out about your current situation to see if I might be able to pursue any more opportunities on your behalf.

With this in mind I wondered if you would mind me asking the following questions:

*Who are you working for currently if you have secured a role?
*If you are currently looking for a contract, where should I avoid pursuing applications for you?

Please get back to me so that I can update your record or if you are available we can commence with any potential opportunities together as soon as possible.

              Kind Regards,

This is the ususal sh*te I get constantly

                To which you could reply..

                Dear xxx,

This email got lost on the way here and had to make several detours before finally reaching me.

Many thanks for your offer to look for work on my behalf. I would be keen for you to tell me which companies (and respective contact names and numbers) you plan to consider me for so that I can avoid applying for roles for these companies through agencies other than yourselves.

I would also be keen to know how many candidates you have put forward for roles with these companies and how many real success / failure rates you have achieved so that I can make the best judgement on whether to use your services or not.

I really do look forward to hearing from you soon...

                Regards,

                xxx

                  Just received this:

I am writing to you as I have recently received your CV in response to my advert for a position in life and pensions, I may have spoken to you recently however, due to the high level of response to this advertisement i have chosen to email all those that have been considered for the current available position.

As you are probably aware the market is not at its best at the moment and most of the software testers i have spoken to are growing particularly frustrated with two aspects of applying for jobs, the first being with companies interviewing and then deciding to recruit internally and the second being the amount of interviews clients are carrying out as there so many consultants working on the roles and therefore restricting any chances of getting to a second stage interview.

Because of this i have spoken to the clients i am currently working with and the response i have had is that the most successful candidates that are placed with them have had a reference attached with their CV. This therefore saves the client time and also demonstrates the efficiency of you the candidate and myself your recruitment consultant. As i obviously would like to put you forward in the best possible light and give you the best chance possible, I am requesting the details of a referee for yourself.

This information should contain the name of your most recent Test Manager, a phone number, an email address and to which office they are located. As previously explained you have been considered for the role in life and pensions that you have recently applied for therefore, a swift response in order to obtain a reference for you would be greatly appreciated.

                  Yours sincerely,

                  Sweet!

I'm surprised how well that was worded and structured.

Very good, perhaps it should be worring considering that the agents are getting educated haha
