Read some threads here. You've been able to do this for a while. This is not new, plus that page is from the pre-revanmp site so is a month or so old at least.

Is it still only £3 per week without receipts for home office? I thought claiming a proportion of mortgage, gas, elec etc.. was pushing too far. Am I being too cautious?

This is not old. If is from the program that was broadcast yesterday.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but only now can you claim for mortgage interest. That was the main point of the article, and that you would not be liable to CGT.

          Talk to/email your accountant.

They should give you the best advice based on your particular situation i.e. no of rooms in house, number of people in house.

I did the sums myself and it comes to less than £3 per week even with mortgage interest, council tax, utility bills, cleaner etc.. so am happy to stick with the £3 p/week allowance with no receipts required.

it was £2 per week? I though that was per day. Now I have claimed this since Sep-07. What can I do to rectify the situation? My 1st year end is 31st july...

One option is to not bother, just cross your fingers. If you subsequently get inspected and this gets picked up, what will it cost you? The tax on £468. Big deal.

Don't lose sleep over it: the tax man likes to find a mistake when doing an inspection; it saves them from making them up.
