Sure I could stay cheaper in zone 6 but that would defeat the object! You did read the whole post, right?

Hotels or flats described as "Canary Wharf" are often up to 45 minutes and two DLR rides away.
I did read the post and was a little confused, you pay £300 a month to stay two days a week, but it's a studio costing £1300 a month???

I can't get this link to work properly, but it looks like there's hundreds of 1 bed flats within a 1 mile radius of Heron Quays/ Canary Wharf for under £245 a week.

Rawly: Do u commute from the NW to London everyday?

No, just 1 or twice a week depending on my working schedule.

Basically everyone was partying most of the night, so he was constantly woken up by people coming back at 1,2,3,4 o'clock in the morning. The Canadian soon moved to settled accommodation.
I suppose that would be considered bad luck. Never had that problem myself. But I only go to bed when I'm completely ready to flake out for the night and probably wouldn't wake up anyway if someone came in late.

Still, it's good for me that YHs aren't popular with contractors. Means I only get to meet decent, honest folk in them.

Am sure the decent honest folk wax lyrical about the indecent dishonest twat that they met down at the youth hostel

I don't rent it monthly, a colleague does - she pays £1300 per 4 weeks. I contribute £300 to her towards her rent. This is in Ontario Tower.

Most of the properties on that search (certainly the cheaper ones) are near Custom House - see above!

By the way, the distances quoted look like nonsense to me.

You can get a nice 1 bed in Docklands 20 mins or three stops from Canary Wharf on the DLR for £250pw - I had one for 6 months last year. Council tax on top of that is £100.

Nice of her to let you stay in a studio with her.

My point is, if you're doing a weekly commute, you can rent reasonably cheaply in the area if you want to if you're willing to walk a mile or go two stops on the DLR.

TBH I don't think I'd want to be 5 mins away from work.
