There are usually two answers to this question:
1. Try to get as much as you can.
If a job says £250-£350 per day, is there any scope to go over that with most employers or is it on a case by case basis. Other jobs have "up to £x pound per day" as the rate, is it usually a case of this being the high end of what can be negotiated or is this really the client looking for a monkey.
2. Look at rates on websites such as itjobswatch.
I am wondering how accurate are the rates quoted on such websites, specifically itjobswatch are, as daily rates seem only to be quoted in about 25%-30% of jobs for "Developer" which is the number one ranked job.
Are the rates quoted reflective of what most people are on? Or are they on the low end or high end?
