Use contractors or hire a marketing agency based on a % of sales.

If they are employed, and it is commission only then the average commission still needs to equate to at least NMW.

Does it? I assume you meant if you were employing them full time and even then I would take advice from someone experienced in this as minimum wage will be the least of your worries.

You dont pay your accountant the min wage do you? I use many services of others in my work I pay them for what they do nothing more under the terms of the contract we agree.

No I pay my accounts company a fixed fee for a service provided by his company. Minimum wage doesn't come into the equation because I don't pay any wages.

I would suggest you get a contract drawn up with a company that can supply you the services that you require. You can write the contract so that this company is paid on performance if you so wish.

The OP was specifically talking about employing somebody on potentially a commission only arrangement. Whilst NMW may well be the least of their worries it is one that is often overlooked.

Whether that is a sensible way of obtaining there objectives is a different thing though.

I like the idea of having a commission only arrangement but I doubt employing somebody is worth the hassle. I am on the lookout for a marketing agency now.

I need to do some investigation now but would like to thank those who responded to my original question.

In case you prefer to contract one person instead of a marketing agency, you can contract a person on a commission only basis. They will be either self-employed or employed by a limited. As mentioned before you just need to negotiate a contract with them. You could advertise for a contractor on a job board or gumtree. But remember you get what you pay for.
