Client asked me for local agencies to look for a permanent person to replace me, hence I gave a couple but not all.

Incorrect response.

Correct response: I'm not sure given my unique perspective into your business that I could be replaced by a permanent person. Tell you what, let's go and have dinner together and we'll talk about your issues and see what we can do about setting up an on-going support arrangement between your business and mine.

Boss said he wants me permie – I replied sure, if good salary, car and title, or I would stick to contracting.

He says we will have a drink to ‘discuss’ later.

Erm, I would have said 1) speak to the agent, not me (unless you're direct of course) and 2) do your own recruiting...
