Went for a perm job there once (well the plant up in the North East) but I went down to Glocesesester for a full day of selection stuff. I came in second in the end but the overall impression I got was a professional outfit with a good HR dept. The first interview with some of the operational staff up in the North East also instilled confidence in their professional approach - I'd work for them - if they'd let me, of course - which they didn't - I'm not bitter - **$£$%*£*!
I was there a few years ago when SHL Systemhouse had the contract to look after a lot of their IT etc. Was much fun and a lot of drinking was done...don't recall much else though!! I think it was '98...

If you need digs Gloucesters a dump but cheap - Cheltenham's much nicer/better nightlife/restaurants but more expensive. But I'm biased 'cos I live there.
Put it this way - friends who live in Gloucester claim to actually live "on the outskirts of Cheltenham"
Canteen good.
General speed of company very, very slow.
Work usually performed by some contractors. The permies and some contractors just chat alot.
Just like the Civil service used to be before they outsourced everything.
Internet download access from specific 1980's (honest) PC's
Work is generally optional.
Nice people.
Split into two camps. Traders and others.
Not high contract payers. Better off being permie there.
