I usually snap up .net and .org - I don't like people parking on my name.

I register all .co.uk with UKReg.com a.k.a. Fasthosts. Any gTLDs with 1cheapdomains.com. Currently hosting with pipeten.com on a Windows Multihost option with no complaints. Fasthosts are good too. I have a dedicated option with UKFast.net - one of the cheapest solutions when I researched it about 18 months ago.

Yep, the 3 to go for are:

            .com
            .co.uk
            .net

I have .com for email and the main site and also own .co.uk and .eu which are set to forward to .com. Can't be bothered with any of the others at the moment. Might consider .ltd.uk - I wish it was possible to just have .uk.

Am currently trying to think up a new company name (my current one is tres lame) and it's darn hard work trying to (a) think up a decent name and (b) think up a decent name where the domain name hasn't been registered.

              Grrr...

There is, and should be, no restriction whatsoever with .COM. If you want it (and most people do) get it. It is a non-geographic generic TLD and often the most desirable.

Also .ltd.uk are not very desirable, and they can only be registered by a UK Limited company with the same name, so generally speaking - there is no rush to get them - and most companies don't.

I have a .net for my Ltd co site, all my other sites are .com and I get all the major other ones for the same name and redirect them to the main one.

                      Godaddy are good for that
