Website design and hosting for Ltd Co

Can anyone suggest a website design and hosting company?

I just want a simple website, nothing flash, to advertise my Ltd Co. I was quoted £1500 by a company whose name I forget just to set it up, but I thought that was a bit steep.

    Cheers

I'm about to start offering hosting and am currently updating my site but there's a portfolio on there: http://www.developdesign.co.uk/

Have a look - if you're interested, let me know your requirements.

          Absolutely - do it yourself.

you don't need to be techie. I'm not and have built MyCo's website.

You can buy a template if you want for less than £100. Stick it into Dreamweaver or some such program. You'll get detailed instructions on how to change the stylesheet, menus etc.

Web hosting can be bought for something like this for less than £10 per year.

I reckon total cost of mine was less than £100. The time taken to write the content was more significant but you'll need to spend that time anyway.

That's all fair enough but what about cross-browser compatibility and SEO and all the stuff that you need to consider when building a site no matter how small.

Regarding hosting - I would agree that there are some really cheap options out there but I'd always go with a company that I knew I could call 24/7 and get a response and that their servers were reliable..

yes but he's after a bog standard website for his ltd co, so I guess he's not too worried about that...
