can i claim tax back if im paid holidays and commission

hi i work through a umbrella company, for the first 6months using them im pretty sure i was getting taxed 50percent but they pay you strangly in commission and holidays and a small basic pay amount

im worried i wont be able to claim tax back since i got my annual tax form saying i only made 11grand and paid 3grand tax.

it annoys me because some times i make an extra grand almost in a month and i was still getting paid the same as if i did no overtime..

also i asked them ages ago to put me on a monthly timesheets so i dont have to pay weekly administration, turns out i've been on weekly commission for the last year as they said this is different from entering my time sheets in monthly rather then weekly, surely its pretty obvious if i want to enter my time sheets in monthly it pretty much means i dont want to get charged weekly.
I feel like im getting screwed an example of my pay would be sometime i made 3800 and would only take home 1500 or if i made 4k and i would take hom 2k grrrr
i would be willing to let someone take a look at my umbrella account online.

AFAIK Commission still needs to be recorded on your P60 so you should know if you have paid the right amount of tax.

May I suggest doing a self assesment online and that will tell you what you are paying.

    Also who is the Umbrella?

There are some very strange practices out there with some of the more inventive umbrellas.
You should have some kins of "pay advice". If it doesnt add up to your p60 then you probably need to talk to an accountant. They can help advice

It sound as if you are getting paid national minimum wage and the rest as a bonus. This purely is so if the brolly gets sued on your behalf (as they are technically your employer), they can only be sued on the minimum amount.

As for what you are paying out. Are you aware you are paying Employers National Insurance as well as employees? This is probably why your Net take home looks so poor, but it shouldn't be 50% is your tax code correct?, make sure its not on BR.

yeah im sure its correct now but who knows i think i will pay an accountant to check my details as its too much hassle, that employers NI is a rip too but pretty sure i was paying 50percent tax and ni anyway , ouch
