Contractors based in the Cotswolds - advice needed

    Hi Guys,

My wife and I are thinking of moving house to the Cotswolds. Probably somewhere neer Kingham / Burford. We've been up there a couple of times to check out the area, and the more we go the more we can't wait to get out of the south-east.

I'm guessing that my target job markets are going to be Reading (I'm a Microsoft web application developer) Oxford and maybe Swindon, but I'm open to going anywhere within an hour's drive / train.

Does anyone here come from this area and commute to Reading / Oxford?

It's a dream place to live for us, but obviously no good if the commute is too crazy.

    Thanks

    Chris.

I think most would consider that is the South East.

Kingham has trains to Oxford, but they might be only a couple per day. If you're driving, the A40 into Oxford tends to be a bit of a nightmare.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Yeah, of course everything is relative .

We're in North Kent at the moment, which is great for mainlines into London, but a nightmare for everywhere else.

I live the other side of the Cotswolds near Cheltenham, which might be a bit further west than you've got in mind. However, it is convenient for the M5 and jobs in Bristol and Tewkesbury (when it's not underwater!) as well as Swindon.

Currently working in Cheltenham but plenty of work in and around Swindon. Gloucester takes about 50 mins via the A40 and Bristol (M4) are also good areas for work.

          Can't beat the Cotswolds!

Don't forget Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, or even Birmingham/Coventry isn't that far from there.

I was in North Kent (Sevenoaks), and the links were very very good, I'm now in Leatherhead and the link is ok. I am constantly called up by pims for jobs in Reading etc....so although there are more in London, there do seem to be gigs in Reading. Do a search on JobServe.
