    bank account

    Hi guys,

So far i have set up my limited company my self and Monday i am popping into barclays to set up a business bank account, but got a mail from a few of the accountancy people to say they can provide this for me.
Any benefit of them doing it and should i let them? also is business bank accounts generall free or will there be charges etc.

yes it is worth it as they will get you higher interest rates, and save you time. Cater Allen have free banking for 10 transactions per month and a reasonable interest rate. I imagine (though don't know) that a business bank account from Barclays will pay v low interest rates

I (and many many others here) use Cater Allen - their customer service is superb and good interest rates. You may get better interest rates from Alliance and Leicester or Northern Rock. I'm considering them for my reserves.

Northern Rock - aren't they the one of the UK's worst-hit casualties of last Friday's Stocks-n-Shares hiccup? And even before then, too?

Business banking is not usually free - it helps pay for the free banking you get on your personal account !

If you join the FSB, like I did, you can apply for their Co-Op business bank account which is totally free forever. Plus they give you £25 each year as a loyalty bonus. And interest on your current account. Whenever any other bank tries to sell me their business banking I just reel this off and they tend to go quiet!!

Probably too late for you this time, but Abbey are doing a free business banking forever deal.
Quite good internet banking, nothing too flashy, but it works.
              Thumbs up from me.

HSBC now do a free 'Online & Telephone only' bank account:

                http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/business/a...usiness-direct

In a nutshell, no standing charges, any transactions online are free, and you get a set number of non online transactions (cash, cheque etc..) a month before you have to pay.
