Oops....Bit sleepy while formatting this mail..!! No I am not handling Mission Critical stuff, but have to say 8 years back when I was in that field Rocket failed & gone to Sea...!!!

Is 3 Page (Not Page 3 ) Resume is thatbig deal...??? 10 years experience I have to reflect, Are you saying I should compress it to 2 Page or it still can be 2.5 Page, Should Resume be 3 page... How much important is this..??? I am still not convinced how 2 page will make that difference..??
Please let me know....Response from managers who deals wih recruitment highly appreciated..

I would get your "resume" or Consultant Profile done professionaly. A good CV will get you the interview.

There are lotrs of companies out there but I use www.cvwrite.com, just because I have had excellent feedback from my CP.

Speaking of major Telco, I think Vodafone use Alexander Mann, so it may be worth sending them your CV direct.

I'm afraid there does seem to be something weird happening to the contract market at the moment. There's a post on PCG saying almost the same thing.

For reassurance your rates for testing roles are ok - don't lose your nerve just yet.

Since the market's slipped you may have to start looking further afield than London and the South. You can only be choosy when you're in demand I'm afraid.

Thanks...In PCG did they come up with any reason..? Looks quite odd, especially 10 months back sitn was different & that confidence only made me to take break...!

On testing rates, since I am not getting in to interview level itself rate could be a reason..?? If the agency advt says £400 & some one with similar experience is ready for £350, agency could pocket that £50..?? so rate slash is a good option..?? I thought thats the way agency works..??

Yes it is..am looking @ practitioner level test as well now.. I saw Prince2 qualifications in few test manager job advts now..Normally its for Project Managers..

Too many Indian imports

I am seeing in my current gig:

Test Manager - Indian - been in UK on HSMV 6 years
Test Lead - Indian -been in UK on HSMV 3.5 years
1 x Pakistani born tester ( in UK since he was 5)
2 x Indian born testers in UK on HSMV (duration unknown)
1 x white UK born tester

All for major blue chip client; also the recent announcement here has been to let the Aussie & UK developers(contract) go as development is now been offshored to India

I'm pretty certain testing will also be going offshore, which will be ironic to those wallahs now over here on HSMV's .

Still, it's all fair innit in this globalised world - looks like you will have to upskill to summat else to survive

Yes...But thats not a new issue..they have been there for Junior roles 10 months back as well. They will not be considered for Project/test manager roles any way (thats what I have seen..!!). HSMV was there 10 months back as well. Nothing new in that...also probably recent changes should reduce HSMV issues..???

i'm in the testing field and have been for 7 years as well. I think you need to calm down all this worry will play on your mind when at interviews and knock your confidence around.

The rates you are quoting seem to be fine if not a little less than what i have and would be asking for in london area.

Remember if you can't find work where you live then you will have to travel. It is what i have had to do for the last 4 years you will get used to it.

I work on government projects which may be a good and bad thing as there is always plenty of work and long term work going on but not sure for how much longer.

Yes...i am looking options entire South (Holy land of IT ) covering any place below Birmingham up to 2 hours travel ... south , South west , London & up to Milton K etc...

I work in an IB and all the testers are in India. Its been a real pain training them but nthey are not too bad now.

yes..thats the case for long time..nothing new..It was the case when my Resume was HOT, 10 months back as well...But currently market condition is like around X'mas/Jan Dry period..

You have to remember that a lot of companies will use scanning software to search for buzz words as they get a lot of applicants for each role...if you don't have the words etc your CV may not even get seen...

OK so is it worth changeing Resume based on JOB spec..?? Like look at Job description update Resume & send..?? Or even if agency advted for "X" rate , an under quoteing will be given more preference..?? How to get agency in to my way..??

I always steer my CV to the job spec that I am replying to. At least that way I know that I can show my experience relative to the spec rather than having to show all experience in 3 pages...having it done properly and with all the right words helps though.
