    Preferred or Compulsory Supplier List

    Computer People
    Hays IT

Do they have a preferred or compulsory supplier list? Whats the consensus of opinion?

These supplier arrangements are largely in place to make the lives of HR people easier. With a PSL inplace regardless of how the suppliers are performing it is used as a screen to hide behind when agencies call. I hate all PSLs except for the ones that we are on.
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

Hays have a PSL if you go through them and are using an umbrella.
Thats their words. In practice it's compulsory - you can ONLY use the umbrellas on their list. Limited - there is no issue at all

My umbrella - OrangeGenie, are not on the Hays PSL.

Hays informed me of this fact, so I said I would investigate using one of their preferred lot.

Called them back a couple of hours later, told them I wanted to remain as I was.

Agent said he would make a call and get back to me.

He called back a little later. "No problem, OrangeGenie is on the PSL for another part of Hays"

        Sorted.

Stand firm - they will back down, probably in fear of losing their commission.
