How close to the end of a contract is a good time to start applying for a new one? I'm in my first contract and it ends at the end of May. I'm thinking of looking for a new when it reaches the 2 weeks to go stage - is this about right?

When do you start looking for a new contract?
"Is someone you don't like allowed to say something you don't like? If that is the case then we have free speech."- Elon Musk -
I usually do so about a month before, unless of course the work dries up [ as it has now ] and I think I can negotiate an early release.
Advert = day 1
CV to client usually within 1 week.
Interview end of week 2
decision early week = 3
leave / start end week 4
I think you need to give old client at least a week or more in order to make you a better offer to stay, or to provide a professional hand over service to the next person.Cenedl heb iaith, cenedl heb galon -
I never stop looking. Like with my current contract they can give you notice and end you a week later (or same day if you wish).
Not so bad for me as I can pick up work driving if needed but its nice to roll from one contract into another. I'd say 3-4 weeks from the end.Comment

When my contract ends (July), I'm not gonna work for 6 weeks. Will probably start looking end of August time.Call the copsComment

mine ends on the 27th, I started looking last week, and have an interview on Friday, I'd normally look with 3/4 weeks left on the contract, unless its one I don't like in which case I'd be looking all the time.SA says;
