    Avg Rate for Technical Architect

So I am back in my 1st contract role since a stint in a permie job, working as the Technical Architect for a UK Retailer. The role is basically a enterprise architect, my background is mainly infrastructure though.

So whats the going rate for a tech arch, with infrastructure leanings?
Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!

Where? Outer Hebrides or City of London?
What? What is your expertise/technology base?
How many years have you been "architecting"? 1,5,15? How big are the systems? How complex?

    There are so many variables.

portseven - what exactly are you ?

An "Enterprise Architect" is nothing like a Technical Architect - it's more akin to a Business Analyst or Business Process Manager.

For rates the CW site is pretty good.

Here you can select your skill and location and get a view as to the advertised rates over the last year or so...

It depends what you mean by architect, I know some people who have that title as they can use Visio, others actually understand how the whole landscape fits together and the communication within it. Different beasts and they don't get the same payscale.

I'm not an architect.... I meant it was a good site for my specialist subject

Although I did have one gig last september as a network/communications architect. very high level, the most complex thing i had to do was interpret the architects drawings
