Employing people..

Hi all, and Happy New Year I hope you're all very happy this year and make rude amounts of cash. Now... to my question

Like many on this board I am running my own Ltd co at the moment. Something that has been bubbling away in the background though is the possibility of getting a few trusted people together, and providing a service, through my ltd co. Now, this is a completely different ballgame and wondered if anyone else here had done this? I.e. going along doing your work solo, noticing there is a demand, getting some trusted people together and able to do more work/more customers..(like a traditional business yay!)

Can anyone offer me any pointers here? I imagine this crosses into a whole new world of business/law etc etc.. or should i find business for dummies or something

We have a few clients who do this, my advice would be:

1. Are you good with paperwork?

2. Do not "employ" them, get them to work via their own Ltd company, this way you avoid employment issues.

3. They invoice your company for their services and you in turn would invoice the agency/client with something added on.

4. Do not take them on as sole traders/partnerships as this can give you tax problems with the Revenue.

5. If you are on the VAT Flat Rate scheme you may need to come off it as the turnover grows.
