Permi Role - Asking for advice

Greetings, hoping someone can provide some advice about an opportunity that I have been offered.

Currently contracting as an Infrastructure PM, which I have been doing for the last 6 years. My background is IT, with working experience and certified in VMware, MS Server, Citrix, Cisco etc. For the last 12 months I have been obtaining a number of industry standard Certifications in security, 3 in total. Ideally I want my next role to be in security and I’m pretty flexible about it being a dedicated security role or security PM role.

As mentioned, I have been offered a permanent security role with a salary of 50k. I could manage drop in money if it leads to something better in the contracting market. My intention would be to stay in the role for 12-15 months.

Now my question and I appreciate it’s a difficult to answer, but I’m just looking for opinions, advice or someone who has been in a similar position.

    Option 1
Work 12/15 months in a security role then look at contracting in the security sector – is that feasible, realistic?

    Option 2

Complete my last security certification and just start applying for security roles and see where that leads? Again, would I stand any chance in the contracting market with just certifications behind me.

    Any help, advise greatly appreciated.
