    SC clearance and self harm

    Hi,

I am required to go through SC clearance for a listX perm role, the job is a software engineering based role, I was wondering if mentioning self harm would potentially be viewed as a risk factor when it comes to security clearance?

With all things SC related, you have to be completely honest. You can't be discriminated against on mental health grounds but you could be considered a security risk if you lied.

      Definitely.

If you've visited a health professional then it would be on record? They may ask to write to your GP and clearing will take longer than normal.
