When I first started contracting within banking in 2005, there were literally 0 checks.

Recently every gig it seems the process is becoming more tedious and complex to go through. The last was nearly 8 weeks boarding process (mainly due to pimp incompetency).

8 weeks? After 4 days I would be looking for something else and taking it as soon as it was offered..

        Thanks all.

The recruiter for the role has said that they could be a problem but as long as we are upfront with them from when an offer is made they could get an exception approved.
I won't be involved in any FS work as it's in HR, so hopefully they'll look past it.

Normally I'd agree, but it all tied in nicely with leaving one contract and starting that one, plus the money was too good to turn down.

My last one took around two weeks, then another few days arguing about the contract.
The main issue are the rates are generally 20%++ higher in banking, so makes it worth doing.

Surely that depends on skillset - although I won't touch banking as I find it mind numbing the increase in rate doesn't compensate for my increased costs...

                  Yes, it does.
Appreciate why it wouldn't work for you, then .
The difference can easily be 100-200 quid PD extra for me.

The checks banking do are not even in the same ball park as the MOD when you go through Developed Vetting. That process costs in excess of £20k and turns every stone over. Anybody who has gone through 'the interview' will remember it well. Worth having, but sadly mine lapsed on leaving the military - use it or lose it.
