hmmmm this kind of attitude maybe the reason you are benched for so long... you got to follow the job, I know it can be hard moving sometime, but we all had to do it at some point or another.

        Ooh bit judgemental there!!
And we are talking about a permanent role in Southampton, not a contract. .

No judgement at all, am saying if I was desperate for a role, I'd consider moving, but totally aware others may not have the same mentality... many of us here dipped in and out of a perm role if it means it saves our finances or we could learn or be exposed to a new skill.

Clearly you do not have a family, dependents, friends, relatives etc etc who you like to socialise with! Money is not everything by a long way.

If you are a contractor you need to be prepared to go where ever, however I agree with you about permanent roles.

Agreed. I've worked in different parts of the country for contracting roles. I think I'd have to be at the 'bailiff coming for my stuff' stage to accept a permanent role with at least 6 hours of travel (Glos to Southampton example) daily.

No you don't - your business, your rules - if you only want to work 'locally' then that's entirely up to you. I only work within a maximum 2 hour commute (one way).

Then don't come on here and complain when you can't get work.

I haven't complained ever - please show me where I have?

While you are it, you can show me when I haven't had work as well that would be useful as I didn't notice that ever happening.
