When I went permy (briefly) before, I had to keep pushing the "settle down blah blah " line to convince them, strangely this time they didn't really pursue the contractor to permy thing. It does not matter if they dump you after some time - you got the job you wanted and I hope you will gain commercial experience with whatever tech you wanted, .NET? Try to use C#, some permies may not grasp the imporant so explain that it is in THEIR interest to use C# rather than VB.net because they are very close, but it will look better on their CVs.
