Also might add that contract or permie, I'd still expect people I work with to be decent human beings.

Threatening breach of contract when OP has obviously got enough on his hands at the moment, is not something the client can be proud of. Poor behaviour as a human being....

OP - you're lucky to be leaving if this is the way they think to be honest.

OK, so an emergency has happened in the meantime - can't be helped. Yeh client may have been burned in the past but this is poor form to tar everyone with the same brush surely especially as OP says its been ok so far.

Does make me wonder whether its agency being pissed off here because they're missing out on their last few days or margin maybe.

But if it is genuinely the client talking this crap my advice to OP would be **** them and move on. If they don't want to believe you then crack on and do what you want.

I don't think the OP has got to 'convince' them. Hes apologised, hes explained the situation - what more could he do? OK, apart from offering to handover at some other time maybe.....

Got a big thing about things like this. Family first whether you're an employee or contractor. Unless you're non-attendance is putting someone else's life at risk (very unlikely) then its tough titty if my family need me.
You can still put family first and not have a **** you attitude towards your client. That's just unprofessional. Not hard to balance the two where possible. Where family wins over the client there is nothing wrong with accepting you are the one that has put the client out and showing a bit of acceptance of that instead of blaming the client and having a **** you attitude.

Says the guy that thinks phoning in sick is an acceptable way of getting out of contractual obligations. Do you not think it's that attitude which is causing this type if client behaviour in a real situation. Total hypocrite.

You would be surprised at the number of family emergencies or sickness in the last week of contract - client probably heard it many times before so don't believe you

I've never done this. Are you sure you've not got me mixed up with someone else? (No matter what you think unix is not my sockie BTW).

OK, I might have said it jokingly (because Im sure you're going to search lol).

I would agree with you that its not really cool to pull a fake sickie like this. The backlash of this sort of thing causes grief for genuine people like the OP - unless hes lying!

Combined with his attitude to his clients and agents? Paints a bigger picture.
