I use business cards for Plan B but no so much for contracting.

I know I usually end up dumping business cards in a drawer or the bin and assume others do the same to mine so I put my details into a QR barcode on my phone so it can be scanned if you meet someone you want to be in touch with and it gets saved to their contacts. So much neater.

I have a QR code printed on my business card! I also have my name and contact details, along with my technology specialisms, but no real job title to speak of. (Looks a little bit like this: http://i.imgur.com/6jB3Xel.png (this isn't me - just a similar looking card I found on the interwebs)).

My name and contact details are encoded into the QR code so that people I give the business card to can either scan the QR code immediately (and not need to take the card away with them - saves me a fortune as I can reuse it! ) or they can take it away and either manually key in the details to their phone or scan the QR code. Best of both worlds!
