Applying for a BA role

Hi,

I am a Business Intelligence contractor, been contracting now for around 3 years, before that I was permie for around 10 years.
I am a developer but I would like to do some Business Analysts work also.

Have any of you been in that situation where you were a BI Developer but also wanted to offer Business Analysis as a skill.
Ideally I would like to be a B.A.D - Business Analyst Developer.
Would it be worth applying for BA work as well.
I am not bored of being a BI developer, I love it but would also love to advise clients on their requirements and do the process mapping for them.

I generally don't do BI analyst developers, but do want technical BAs, i.e. those who understand the way in which BI solutions are built and have the ability to undertake BI specific analysis but also write mapping documents in pseudo-code.

The advantage to yourself of being able to do that is you are not technology dependent. E.g. if you sell yourself as a MS stack BI analyst / dev. then you are limited to that market. If you can sell yourself as technology neutral you will get more opportunities.

Equally, I don't want analysts doing development work from a quality perspective. If you are doing the whole job then from experience, the quality of documentation and design standards tend to go down the river.
