Hi folks,
Just wondering if someone more knowledgeable than me has met this scenario before...
The abbreviated version is that I'm moving to Portugal to live. Despite my being about a thousand miles away, ClientCo would very much like to retain my services as a distance worker, probably for another year or so. I've had lots of conflicting advice, but I think I have three options:
1. Set up a UK ltd, contract through that, take my chances that the Portuguese authorities won't double tax me.
2. Continue with UK umbrella for a while, set up a Portuguese ltd, contract through that. Haven't investigated this one much yet as ClientCo have strongly expressed their preference for a UK-based company to invoice them.
3. Go through an international umbrella that that can invoice through a UK company it owns, and that can register me for Portuguese tax. Lowest risk, in theory.
So far I am thinking option 3 (lowest risk, but lowest payout), with the option then to go for #2 at a later date maybe. Anyone have any other suggestions or advice?
Thanks
