The EU have stated they will not alter the agreement, but as yet there has been no attempt by any Brexit supporter to come up with detailed suggestions on what would be better.
If the UK Brexit people cannot come up with a single workable detailed idea, then there's nothing for the EU to discuss or debate. Until the UK team can formulate a plan, then the UK are stuffed. But that's what was voted for - no plan, no idea, no thinking.that would only embolden the voters in my area. They'd see that as the Tory establishment trying to discredit him. Perhaps the same might happen in other Labour strongholds. Leaver Labour party supporters will stick with their MP even if that MP is a leaver."The main newspapers will trash him and make sure of that"Comment

I have always been wary of the tax exemption and now the MOT exemption. Classic vehicle owners are now an easily identifiable community which can be targeted with regulations which aren't necessarily conducive to our interests. The exemptions are to our benefit now, but given that Gordon Brown removed the tax exemption and it was re-instated by the Conservatives, no Government can be trusted to maintain the status quo. If we paid tax and had our vehicles MOT'd the same as everyone else, then it would be much harder for HMG to identify the community for specialist treatment.Originally posted by WTFH View PostAh, so the EU laws which mean a classic car doesn't need an MOT is a really bad law and you want that removed. OK, makes sense.
Also the bit about tax exemption? You want that removed too?
Great.
...or is it just the bits you don't like that you want rid of, if it saves you money it should stay?Comment

actually, there are already potentially adverse DVLA policies which are more likely to affect a Speed Six than a Mini Metro.Originally posted by WTFH View PostHe believes a rusting Mini Metro used as a daily commuting car should be treated the same way as a 1929 Bentley Speed Six.Comment

well, how would you feel if any government introduced legislation that potentially completely devalued a major investment of yours? This is always a potential.Originally posted by CryingSheep View PostSo you support Brexit not because you would be better off but because potentially you will have better rules to enjoy your classic cars!? an example,
If you had a buy to let mortgage and a Labour Government introduced regulations to "protect" the tenants which made it nonviable financially for you, you'd be quite upset wouldn't you? You'd be unlikely to sell it with a sitting tenant and nobody else would want to buy it as a rented property and you'd still be lumbered with paying for it. Just because you may not have a classic vehicle, doesn't mean that others are not concerned about the issues. Remember Martin Niemöller.Last edited by JohntheBike; 4 September 2019, 11:22.Comment

The only fault (and it's a big one to bet your Brexit argument on) is that you can always export the classic car and get your money worth, property in the UK, not so much.Originally posted by JohntheBike View Postwell, how would you feel if any government introduced legislation that potentially completely devalued a major investment of yours? Oh boy, the spending pledges are coming thick and fast. I guess they are easy to make, given the zero chance of Boris remaining in power to implement them...
