Well thing is, Honda has been on a wind down for years, production was at less than 50% capacity and the only model being built there was the Civic, mostly diesel.
So with the EU trade deal signed with Japan (funny how the EU sat on this deal for years, and just suddenly agreed once Brexit became a reality), the impending EU ban on diesels, and the move to developing electric vehicles in Japan, it is no surprise.

Erm, perhaps UK was blocking it from happening? Now that UK is out a lot of other things will happen there - like transaction tax (also known as "stamp duty" in this country)

That is a load of bollocks. Honda never had a plan to develop electric cars in the UK, that was always going to be in Japan.
In October 2009, HUM began production of the Honda Jazz, which until then had been imported from Japan. Production of the Jazz at Swindon was halted in 2014, and once again it was imported from Japan only.[14]
In September 2012, Honda announced a £267 million investment programme at the Swindon site. This was to support the introduction of new models of the Civic and CR-V, and a new 1.6 litre diesel engine
All based around diesel being the future. Now which large block of countries were pushing diesel as the "future" due to low CO2 and then suddenly...
