One in three UK firms plan for Brexit relocation, IoD says

Nearly one in three British businesses are planning to relocate some of their operations abroad or have already shifted them to cope with a hard Brexit, according to a leading lobby group.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) warned that 29% of firms in a survey of 1,200 members believed Brexit posed a significant risk to their operations in the UK and had either moved part of their businesses abroad already or were planning to do so.

More than one in 10 had already set up operations outside the UK as the prospect of a no-deal Brexit becomes more likely amid Westminster gridlock. Most firms considering a move were looking to open offices inside the European Union, said the IoD, which represents 30,000 firms.

      To put it positively:

More than two in three British businesses are not planning to relocate some of their operations abroad and have not already shifted them in needless fear of a red, white and blue Brexit, according to a leading globalist elite group.

A Very Blatant Lie. 29% of IoD members might be making some sort of contingency planning outside the UK, but digging deeper, that is 29% of 1200 businesses. That is NOT ONE THIRD OF BRITISH BUSINESSES.
Still, there's nothing like a good headline, even if the "facts" are somewhat neglected. Typical Graun, really...

Given what the Leave campaign promised in the referendum, why would even 1 business need to make contingency planning outside of the U.K.?

          Typical Leavers, really.....

Even the Leave campaign under-estimated how difficult the EU would be to deal with. Some businesses do need to have a presence within the EU (mainly down to the over-regulation imposed on trading in some sectors). Even the BBC will need to establish a presence in the EU if they want to continue broadcasting their News Channel. Interesting the they haven't prevented RT broadcasting, but maybe that's for another discussion.

Even? They blatantly lied that it would be the quickest trade deal ever.

It was totally predictable that EU will have to apply existing rules without bending them just because member of the club wants to stop paying membership fees, yet still wants benefit from the bar.

Needing to have a presence isn’t anyone being difficult, it’s a consequence of leaving.

Why didn’t the Leave campaign highlight these consequences of leaving? It’s not as if they are secret.

                  Crap analogy.

A more appropriate one is that we are quite happy to continue drinking at their Bar and paying for our own drinks.

We just no longer want to be forced to put our credit card behind the bar for every other fooker to abuse.
