Just heard on the radio that the transition period lasts for 20 months, but any trade agreement has to lock us into EU legislation until 2030, i.e. we will not leave the EU until 2030, but our formal membership will cease in March. We have just given away UK parliament sovereign rights until 2030.
By 'lock us into legislation' does that mean we can only sell/trade with goods/services that we meet legislation on?

e.g. we cannot just make any old dodgy crap and sell it?

However it does leave us as a rule taker until 2030, and that includes any new rules and regs the EU dreams up.

No. The European Commission president is a 5 year term, and will be up for re-election after next year's European Parliament elections.

So all MEPs will vote on who the EC president shall be, and then the European Council (heads of state/government of the member states) will then confirm the appointment.

Of course, Britain wont have a say in it this time around, because we don't consider that we need democratically elected people representing us in Europe.

We quite literally voted for this to be the case.

Not really - pretty sure very few if any countries will let you import/sell whatever the hell you want.

Obviously if the EU start to put more restrictions on goods from the UK than from other countries we have an issue...

We voted against him last time, and it got us precisely no-fooking-where.

*They are not democratically elected, they are nominated. You vote for a party, and the party gets to decide who the representatives will be.

Really you don't say. That thought never even crossed my mind.

Never mind come 2030 when the (German)EU has succeeded where previous German institutions failed we can then bow in the presence of our lords and masters.
