Former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith was accused of “damaging” his party and the country today after he compared business leaders fretting about Brexit with the “appeasement of Nazi Germany”.

In an article for the Daily Mail, the leading Brexiteer said the Federation of British Industries, which he called “the forerunners of the CBI [Confederation of British Industry]”, had a “sorry record” of support for Hitler’s regime.
