Are you sure? Depends on which news outlets you believe in. Very subtly different.

Oh that's right. There is no shadow cabinet. Or any official opposition. Sorry.

Oh well, at least I can publish a vulgar and hilarious meme depicting the situation as I see it.

          Oh wait.

The EU is run like this: The ruling body is not directly elected every few years.
Every other state in the free world is run like this: The ruling body is directly elected every few years.

Every other democratic state: law makers are directly subject to those who must obey the laws, via universal suffrage.
EU: That subjugation is missing. Law makers are not elected by those obeying their laws. To put it bluntly: The Commission creates laws you must obey, while you cannot sack them.

There is more to it that that, of course, but that's what it boils down to. The EU makes no secret of this, incidentally. It is laid out in the Commission’s rather good official website (albeit less good since the redesign last February). To see the difference, compare the law making mechanisms described there with the equivalent procedures on the UK Government website. Or the US, or any other of the 100 or so democratic states that continue to operate the system that 100 years of history has shown to be the only one that works.

You mention the word “state” a lot. The EU is not a state. Gets an “F”, no effort made.

                  Quite right, it's actually a supra-national political-economic organisation, but definitely not just a coal-steel union to avoid a Franco-German 3rd war.

Nobody in this thread has said that was what it is now, or even that that is what it was when we joined. Not sure what your point is.

So protecting copyrights means the argument is over? Post brexit banana republic UK will encourage all copyrights to be infringed
