well yes it doesn't - but not in the way you think

when you take out less than you put in that is working one way

when you take more than you put in that is working another way

however even you are not stupid enough to think that everyone can take out more than they put in.

What about all the people who believed the big red bus?
      £350million a week?
Nope, Brexit is not taking that out of the EU and giving it to the NHS for a variety of reasons.

That's not the point and you know it.

The point is we always put in more than we get out - we have to because there are many people taking out more than they put in.

Well that means that the UK should also leave the UN as they obviously put in more than they get out and probably the IMF too although I expect that they won't be putting as much in soon:

Quotas are the IMF’s main source of financing. Each member of the IMF is assigned a quota, based broadly on its relative position in the world economy.

          (0.50 * GDP + 0.30 * Openness + 0.15 * Variability + 0.05 * Reserves)compression factor

          Quota (SDR): 20155.1 million
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Cornwall takes more out than it puts in. So does Wales. So do, for example, all retired people in the UK who aren't paying taxes. In fact Cornwall & Wales receive roughly the same amount of funding per person as Bulgaria and Romania.

So, when you way "WE" are you saying everyone in the UK, or are you only talking about tax payers who are in parts of the UK that are net contributors?

And these massive numbers that get paid to the EU?
2.3% of the UK budget. Not 23%, not 52%, not 100%.
            2.3%.
Sending all the Windrush generation home, stirring up hatred and division. The massive figures quoted by Farage, Johnson, et al, they were talking about 2.3% of the UK budget.

You are missing all the non-financial gains and the indirect financial gains.

If you apply the same logic on a national level, rich ppl should stop paying tax or leave (many are as good as gone being tax residents in various tax heavens).

Or going back to the old golf club analogy - do you get more money out of the golf club than you have paid in membership fees?

You got a wife in the house ? Does she earn as much as you ? No ? Kick the bitch out. Or if she earns more than you, tell her we said she's to kick the dickhead out.

Could you elaborate on the non-financial and indirect financial gains?

On a different note - it was not the cost that really made most people vote to leave.

We have already agreed the golf club analogy does not work - because regardless of whether you think golf clubs are bastions of good days gone by or just clubs for rich old bigots the same fact remains - they do not punish you for leaving, they do not try and stop you joining a different a different club, they do not try and stop you accessing the club facilities until you have actually left.. etc etc etc.

So why did most people vote to leave?
If it wasn't the cost and it wasn't the hatred of foreigners and it wasn't the control of our borders and laws that we had anyway, what was the reason?

Yes I have a wife - and two kids.

But that's ok because I had a choice about that.
