It's obvious the UK government knows they will never reach a deal acceptable to the majority of UK voters, for example one where the ECJ has any jurisdiction over UK residents.

So I reckon they will just sit this one out and exit by default, and if the EU ends up worse off by their dogmatic intransigence then they have only themselves to blame.

It's obvious the UK government knows they will never reach a deal acceptable to the majority of UK voters, for example one where the ECJ has any jurisdiction over UK residents.

So I reckon they will just sit this one out and exit by default, and if the EU ends up worse off by their dogmatic intransigence then they have only themselves to blame.

The government doesn't need to reach a deal acceptable to the majority of voters - they need to reach a deal that leaves the UK "better off" (whether economically, strategically, etc) than before Brexit that they couldn't have achieved without Brexit. Otherwise the last 12 months has been pointless.

Exit by default and blaming it on the EU might be politically acceptable, but doesn't benefit the UK at all.
