Do I need contract works added to my policy?

Hi, I am a sole trader running a computer repair business.

If I were to set up a small office network consisting of three computers and a printer, for someone, would public liability be enough or would I have to add contract works to my policy?

I'm covered for 5 million on public liability.

    Thankyou.

I think you are looking for Professional Liability insurance to cover you. So if you put in the stuff and 5 months later it starts a fire in the building, or the person commissioning the works decides 3 months after paying the bill you did it all wrong and wants to sue you. In the first case the insurance company would pay out but in the second they would tell the client to p*ss off. Professional Liability Insurance tends to be cheaper than paying solicitors fees to tell the client to p*ss off.

Contract works insurance has strigent criteria which Professional Liabilty insurance doesn't have, and is best avoided if another form of insurance will cover it.

Professional Liability Insurance relies on you not being a cowboy and following good standard and practice.
