    RTI

So... does anyone know much about this.
As the employers CD Rom from HMRC isn't very joined up at the best of times, does anyone know if it is going to make the jump properly to handle this, or do I need to invest in some payroll software. Only two employees, one major fee earner, so does go against the grain a bit, to spend lots of money on software to do the job. We've got away with paying nothing for payroll software this far, but the last time I played with the HMRC CD (normally leave it to my admin) it couldnt even integrate NI and Tax properly, so goodness knows how it will cope with such a major change

I'ld hope they'd get their CD to work with RTI and politically there will be an imperative on them to do so, however their track record doesn't inspire confidence.

You don't have to spend a fortune on payroll software. Many accountants using Moneysoft payroll manager, and a licence for one company is £56 PA - it's worth it for the time saving over clunky HMRC software.

You don't have to be concerned for a while, the migration to RTI will be done in phases, and the smallest co's will be last phase. I think the plan is to complete by 2015, unless you register for it before then.

I think if you check its the larger employers (over 5000 employees) that can come in last. We come in (unless they change their mind) at April next year. So under 6 months away
Its the pensions stuff that is taking longer if I remember right

No, RTI is coming in for almost all employers from April 2013.

Think you may be confusing with Auto Enrolment?

+1 for MoneySoft. Downloaded the trial version recently to give it a test ride, was up and running in no time, nice and simple to use. Also asked a support qu. over email, got a very helpful reply within 24 hours so all good there.

Although then I went and hired an accountant like I've been threatening for a while, so won't actually be using it now as they'll do RTI for me but hey!
