Hello,
I'm currently looking at paying for a website for my ltd company.
I'm receiving mixed advice:
My accountants are saying I need to create a website and business cards for my ltd company for IR35 reasons. Cost per year ~ £150 per year (incl VAT).
A fellow contractor has told me about PCG and strongly encouraged me to join, as they will legally defend me if any IR35 reasons ever arise. £264 per year (incl VAT). He says websites aren't needed because they will protect you anyway...
Another has suggested qdos's Tax Liability Cover. They will legally defend me and also pay up to £50k of any monies owed to HMRC if an IR35 case is lost. £400-£800pa (approx - i havent had a specific quote yet).
My first thought was, if I have PCG or QDOS to defend me, do I really need to bother with a website and cards? I detest any waste of money and I work in a niche industry where I don't need to promote my company to get work.
What combination of the above do you do with your company?
Many thanks for your time and advice,
MJ
p.s.
I was previously with MontP on a loan scheme but got out of that and started my own ltd company. I'm not sure any insurance will cover me for that if HMRC continue with their retrospective tax policies...
