Sensible investments for an IT Consultancy company?

I provide business-level advisory ans well as some actual software development.
The only costs that I incur at the moment are the occasional laptop and some software, a lot of which is free anyway, perhaps a little on commutes, but not much and finally, probably the biggest expense at the moment is renting an office that I need for my developers and for meeting the clients etc
I am looking for a sensible type of investment for a company like mine, that would be in line with my business. One particular area that I am thinking of is buying a commercial office space rather than renting it. I understand most pros and cons, but I am fine with them.
Basically, my current thinking is that if everything goes well, some years down the line, when our skills are not as hot I can then sell the property and supplement the income of the Ltd which may be lower than it is now.
Hoarding cash does not sound like a sensible strategy as it will lose value and will of course attract CGT and I can't withdraw without incurring an even higher tax on top of the CGT and my personal tax....

    What do you think?
Are there any other investment options? Perhaps I should buy a data centre or a Tier-1 Internet exchange?

<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!
