    Do I need to submit a P11D?

I've just done my SA for the 2011/12. Now I went permie at the start of May 2011, but in April 2011 managed to do a final 4 weeks of contract work. As I knew permiedom was coming I deregistered MyCo from PAYE, and just payed myself the money from that contract as a dividend.

I've just realised employers are also meant to submit a P11d by pretty soon (6th I think), but my only expenses were mileage and they don't get submitted on a P11d. Also my permie employer has submitted a P11d for me, which presumably doesn't cover the whole year (and is also full of zeros).

So my question is: do I need to worry about submitting a P11d anyway, given that a) it would be full of zeros, b) another one has been submitted for May-March, and c) I'd deregistered myco from PAYE. I.e. are they expecting a NIL P11d from Myco regardless?

    Thanks for any help.

I'd say yes. You'll have to do a final payroll P35 I'd have thought.

Check what your P35 said for 2011/12. If you ticked the box to say no P11D is due, then there is no need to file one. And if you're not sure what you did, call your PAYE office and ask them if they are expecting one.

PAYE was closed as of 5th April 2011, at least that's what the accountant said he'd ask HMRC to do. No P35 for 2011/2012, which I guess means they're not going to be expecting a P11d too and I'm worrying over nothing.
