Mine's this afternoon and he's on the treasury select committee - so I've got a few extra questions to ask.
I may need a drink straight after so if I can type legibly I will endeavour to.Comment

MP Meeting
OK Just for back from my MP's meeting, former Conservative Minister.
This was my first time in front of him and it made me realise just how important it is to be face to face, he had all the correspondence and clearly had skim read it but didn't really know the detail, but now he does. For those who haven't done this yet I can't emphasise how important it is to get in front of them, it makes it real and not just a letter in amongst a million others.
He was happy to listen and very fair in his comments I certainly didn't get the "I am not willing to Help" comments that some others have experienced.
I have sent a full update to Carl at Whitehouse, he seemed very pragmatic about the problem, and agreed to help but wanted to understand some of the facts better and to see some of the evidence we discussed that I didn't have with me, before he could decide exactly how he could help. However he has agreed to write to Gauke again which is a start.
All in all nothing ground breaking but not a knock back so I see it as positive.Comment

My faith in British justice is at an all time low but it's good to hear that some MPs are willing to actually read the stuff and try and get an idea of what the devil we are talking about.
If NTRT has a decent size of membership then we must have every MP covered. If so then each one of them should have had a visit.
If your one of the few sitting about hoping it will go away then don't. By the time HMRC start demanding the money it will be too late to do anything so ACT NOW!
I've contacted all my colleagues and ex-colleagues caught up in this and told them to act now. If they don't then the demands could come through the letter boxes soon. It's amazing how at least 2 have panicked and got the meetings sorted.Comment

Go and see your MP
Yes, couldn't agree more. Fix a meeting with your MP. It's not as daunting as it seems. They are only a person like you or me, and could be out of a job come the next election. In fact I'd meet the PM again tomorrow if I could! The NTRT briefing pack is an excellent tool and you only need concentrate on a few specifics... Let us be judged on the law at the time , unannounced retrospection after 7 years of inaction that makes us now into criminals, and the bogus information fed to MPs by HMRC during the committee stages of the Finance Act. They'll do for starters. Lots more if you have time. Just go for it.....Comment

Adam Afriyie, Windsor MP
Has anyone been to see Mr. Hard nut to crack Afriyie?
After rumours about him wanting to usurp Dave C, just wondered now where his sympathies lie. In letter writing to date, seems he's happy to sit back and let the Gaukites run the show.
Please let me know.Comment

Meeting with my MP
Just had a very useful, positive meeting with my MP who was really supportive of our situation, disagrees with retro etc. etc.
He was happy to agree to follow up with a few items including:-
(i) writing to ask DG to meet with NTRT,
(ii) asking questions in parliament and taking part in evidence session, tabling amendments (probing amendments)
Have sent full details to Carl at whitehouse but it went very well.
I was pretty nervous but he was a decent, accommodating guy who seemed to understand and be sympathetic.
But I can't stress enough - like other people have - that getting in front of your MP is possibly the most important thing you can do for our cause. I would be happy to go back and meet with him again and will definitely be following things up with him.
I'm very glad I did it.
Have a good weekend all.Comment
