In addition to the discussions around how to join to engage with the cause and for how much. Perhaps there could also be an option to support the cause through voluntary donations. This would not give membership privilege but would add to the fund.

I am sure though, not directly affected themselves, many friends, family and even collegues of those affected would pledge support. I mean, how many folks gladly give at least £20 to sponsor someone in a charity run. Well charity begins at home i say. I'm sure if we all asked around and got friends and family to sponsor our cause there would be quite a few takers.

And have to say hats off to Nigel Mills, he had some very subtle yet aimed comments and I would suggest that the other speakers Hamilton, Syms and Morrice shared in his passion. That said, our friend Mr Gauke did himself no favours and although toeing the party line was always going to be his default stanceit went directly against what he stood for in the past and now its is on public record. I don't post often but I would also like to take this time to extend my thanks to DR TSBT and the entire crew for their continued resolve and determination. And if anyone has any of the above MP's representing them please pass on my personal thanks to them voicing their concerns on our behalf. Great representation.

That’s the joke of this sorry Saga..... I don’t believe for one moment that a great deal will be collected, it probably won't even cover the cost of the HMRC bods for their S58 job creation scheme, this is just a case of some pompous fart sticking out his pigeon chest abusing the privilege of having been given a little bit of power through electors thinking he can do what he likes.

For God’s sake let’s see a little more common sense Gauky, Your in charge of a department that has screwed up, we all do at some time or another be a proper leader and take the lead in clearing up this mess.... Your look and come out better for it.

I'm a bit concerned that more have not joined. I understand that some people are out of work, some people are worried about the future etc, but I suspect a lot of the non-joiners are simply not joining because they're saving themselves a few quid and someone else is doing the work for them. Not very "we're all in it together", I know.

A couple of options crossed my mind, how much support would there be for a direct debit option, that would maybe ensure a steady income stream for the fighting fund, say £50pm?

Another slightly off the wall one, might be merchandise? There's plenty of those on-line printers etc that would sell t-shirts and the like on NTRTs behalf. Personally I'd happily pay £20 for a purple t-shirt with 'HMRC ARE tulipE' on it or something equally pointed. It might only be a £10 profit per t-shirt, but there's lot's of people that happily buy one of those that haven't even heard of S58. People could show their support without having to become members.

I have been lurking here reading as much as I can since the initial threads discussing BN66 got going.

I'm in the same boat as all of you, joined the MP scheme in 2001 under the guise of full disclosure to HMRC as a legal scheme.
I left in 2007 when returning to permanent employment and have been hounded by the HMRC ever since. However hat's off to MP for handling everything so professionally.

I've been fascinated by everything people have had to say, good and bad, and I truly hope that in the end we get our rewards.

I was allowed to join the NTRT site without making a donation because at the time money was tight but I did promise to make a donation when funds allowed.

I have now managed to sort out some finances and have paid my £200 this evening. If possible I might be able to make further donations in future.

£200 doesn't sound like a lot of money compared to what HMRC are chasing for and I really hope that the other people who haven't paid or are holding off because they feel like they are throwing more money away think again. It's like a sort of insurance payment but with no guaranteed payout. At least you are contributing to the fund to allow these great people to carry on the good fight.

I know a few more people who joined the scheme with me back in 2001 and I will be chasing them up to come here and read up on what's going on.

My only concern/worry about getting more people over here is actually the sheer volume of messages that get posted. You really can't see the wood for the trees when looking for the updates with useful info. Even the Latest News page on the NTRT site is from 24th May. What I think you need is a thread with minimal updates (locked down to a few trusted posters) where you can just post the salient info newcomers can look through and then if they want to join the flamboyant discussion jump in here.

Happy to donate, has been very good value so far...

I will be donating more, having joined last month and been assisted in a meeting with my MP. Trust me you are getting very good value for money and everyone really will need to join together and help share the costs of fighting for our rights. I think £200 is about right - assuming people are in work it's only going to be <=1 days rate for most. So one day less off and you break even, not bad really.

One of the feline gang pictured on my avatar saw fit to get ill last week and following 2 emergency vet visits and a hospitalisation, I'm very glad to say she is much better, that little lot cost me £2,200. Puts the value in perspective. Luckily I'm insured for the vet bills which allows me to have everything done to help them when they need me. I look on NTRT as a similar kind of thing, a bit of outlay for support and peace of mind rather than playing roulette on your own.
